Help keep a family together

blessusthree started this conversation

I know this is a longshot, as I haven't been able to get help on here yet, but, it's worth another try. Geesh, our family was tore apart again in April 2008. For a little 5 year old child, my daughter's been through so much. In 2006, when she wasn't even 2 yet), I had to leave Canada, and she didn't see me for 2 months. She came back to me in November 2006, and her dad came in December 2006. We were settled again, I had a great job that I loved, then immigration came to our house, took my husband (because he overstayed), and sent him back to Canada. I didn't have the money for us to join him until over a year later. We got to Canada July of this year. I now am eligible to stay, but, have to apply for permanent residence. That cost 5000.00. Unfortunately, I can't work until I have a work permit, and can't get one without an approval of permanent residence. My daughter is in school now, and I'd hate for her to have to leave her school, and her dad once again because I couldn't stay. I'm afraid this will affect her the rest of her life if we have to leave and be separated again. She finally has a sense of stability again. Her dad doesn't make much, and because of what I've already had to pay, won't have much if any for even her birthday gift on October 10 or Christmas. If you can help with anything at all, please send to Kelly LaFrenier, 25 Byron Crescent, Dartmouth NS, Canada B2X1L7.

Thank you so much

Yes, Nova Scotia is where we are now. This is where he came back to because this is where he's from originally. My daughter was born in BC. That's where we lived before I had to leave Canada.

in response to positive thoughts...   Yes. My husband is only able to work part time right now, and we have an income of about 760.00 per month total. This is barely enough to live in, let alone coming up with anything towards what I need to apply for the permanent residence. The reason it costs so much is that i need either and immigration lawyer, or an immigration consultant because of the difficulty of our situation, I can't do all the paperwork and applications by myself, or I'd get refused. I am looking for financial help in order to do this. In the whole 8 years we've been together, I've always been the one supporting us, as I have more skills, am more employable, and can make the most income. However, with me not being a permanent resident, I can't work without a work permit. i want to work so badly.

Oh,  I think I am understanding now.  You are able to stay but you have to apply for a permanent residencey to apply for work here is this right?  You are looking for help financially to be able to do this.

Oh ok.  Then what the heck is going on with our immigration process here.  If your husband was born here and is a canadian citizen and you are married to him what the heck is canada's problem.  My mother was a landed immigrant and married my dad who was a canadian citizen and she now has her permanent residencey.  Your daughter was born here too.  When did they change things?  I know one time there was a girl who came from the US and she married a canadian and she was living here with no problem.  Her husband was just responsiable for her.  I have to get more info on it for my own curiousity as well.  So your province is Nova Scotia where you want to stay?

Hi,  So sorry you are going through this.  I'm a little confused though.  You are trying to stay in Canada?  Or the states?

I didn't know how to edit my post, but, wanted to update. We still havent' received any help. There was someone that said they'd express mail a check, but, never did. Technically, my visitors' permit is up on May 6, and I'm very worried. I can be reached at 902-999-1987, 902-407-2008, or 414-455-6456 (skype number).

Thank you in advance, I hope
